Want your fiber processed?

Frontier Fiber Mill will expertly process your good quality, debris-free alpaca fiber into spectacular yarn and roving for your personal use or you can sell it at fiber festivals, farmer’s market, or other retail venues.

Frontier Fiber Mill is introducing a new service to our customers with fiber. Historically we have had many farms wanting their fiber processed into specialty yarns to sell in their farm store or to take to a special fiber venue for retail sale. They have to wait up to seven months--or even longer, until their fiber gets through a line of customers before it gets processed.

Why Wait?
Frontier Fiber Mill will pay you for your good quality, debris-free alpaca fiber. And, those of you with a re-sale license, can go straight to our on-line store, and purchase anything in stock at wholesale prices.

What do you need to do?

It is imperative that you remove the debris from your fleeces before shipping us your fiber. Excess debris will lead to longer processing times and additional charges to you. To minimize the debris in your fiber, consider brushing your alpaca before they are shorn. Otherwise, you will have to pick through the fiber (and remove hay, fecal matter, sticks, toenails, straw, rocks, wood chips, etc.) by hand.
Next, make sure the fiber you’re sending is between 3 and 6 inches long. Short fibers will make your finished yarn "shed" and can make it feel prickly. Any fleeces containing fiber over 6" will be made into roving instead of yarn.
Now, try to bundle like colors together. This will provide you with a more uniform group of fiber. If you have two white fleeces, consider combining them. It will cut processing time and your yarn will be more salable to the public.
