Frontier Fiber Mill Yarn We began creating luscious Alpaca yarn five years ago. Since then we have experimented with other fibers including Bamboo, Merino, Silk, Soy, Mohair, Angora, Cashmere, but every yarn we make in our small cottage mill has an Alpaca base. Why? Because we love Alpaca! That is our niche. Many mills produce exceptional wool yarns. We chose to make luxurious Alpaca blends for our specialty. Our most popular blend is the 50%-50% Alpaca/Merino blend. These come in all the nature alpaca shades from white, beige, fawn, brown, grey, rose grey, and black. We also make the same blend in lovely pastels--greens and blues, lavender, magenta, teal etc. Each “lot” we produce is finite. What you see at a show in the spring cannot be replicated exactly. So get what you need to finish a project. Even Alpaca fiber from the same animal has subtle changes from year to year. That makes each garment made with these blends “one-of-a-kind”! In 2010, we will continue to offer our pure Alpaca and the 50%-50% Alpaca/Merino blends AND, we will begin producing a fabulous Alpaca Bamboo Merino blend. Bamboo is so silky and soft, what a wonderful compliment to Alpaca and Merino. Because our lots are continuously changing, it is very difficult to keep a yarn page current (it’s just me and I’m making all the yarn!!).
